A zoo is giving lovers the chance to name a cockroach after their sweetheart in the US.
The Bronx Zoo in New York is celebrating Valentine's Day with its exhibition of 58,000 roaches and is inviting people to name a creepy-crawly after a loved one in return for a $10 donation.
The creatures, which are iridescent brown in colour and grow up to three inches long, have their own courtship ritual in which the male hisses at the female.
A spokesperson for the zoo said: "Flowers wilt. Chocolates melt. Roaches are forever."
Over 1,000 of the insects were named on the first day of the promotion.
