Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling hundreds of thousands of car seats over safety concerns. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the locks on the affected seats may stick and not lock properly, which could cause the harness to loosen. The child would then not be fastened tightly and could be seriously injured in the event of an accident.
The recall includes nearly 800,000 infant car seats, convertible seats and booster seats manufactured between May 2008 and April 2009. The seats were sold under the brand names Safety 1st, Cosco, Quinny, Maxi Cosi brands, Disney and Eddie Bauer. “This voluntary recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution with no reported incidents or injuries," Dorel said in a statement.
Dorel will provide owners with a small tube of lubricant to apply to the lock to stop it from sticking.
