Foreign Journalists Kidnapped in Somalia

Two foreign journalists covering the ongoing story of piracy attacks in Somalia have been kidnapped from the hotel in which they were staying.

The journalists were in the northeastern region of Puntland when they were allegedly kidnapped by local militia. There has been no word on the demands made by those responsible for the kidnapping.

Pirates have stepped up their attacks on shipping vessels off the coast of Somalia and have used the volatile region of Puntland as their base. With no functioning government in place there is little Somalia can do to halt the pirate attacks.
