Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton will visit the university where they first met later this month.
The couple - who will marry in Westminster Abbey on April 29 - will return to St Andrews University in Fife, Scotland, where they both studied between 2001 and 2005, for an official royal engagement on February 25.
William, 28, will become a patron of an appeal which will mark the educational institute's 600th anniversary, with celebrations running between 2011 and 2013.
During the visit, the prince and his bride-to-be will attend a reception before going to the historic St Salvator's Quadrangle, where they will meet students and staff and unveil a plaque.
St Andrews principal and vice-chancellor, Professor Louise Richardson, said she was delighted the prince had agreed to be patron of the appeal.
She added: "We hope that Prince William and Miss Middleton are the first among many who will reconnect with St Andrews and join in the celebrations."
William and Kate, 29, first met when they both studied art history at the university. The prince later changed to geography and both graduated with 2.1 degrees.
