Lindsay Lohan reportedly has a new witness who will back up her claims the necklace she is accused of stealing is not worth $2,500.
The troubled actress has pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft after upmarket Californian boutique Kamofie & Company accused her of stealing the jewellery but her father Michael Lohan argued the case is meaningless because the necklace is worth less than a third of the reported price.
He told RadarOnline.com: "A man contacted Lindsay's camp and told them he went into the jewellery store way before Lindsay did and was interested in buying the necklace. They told him it was $800.
"This witness will completely exonerate Lindsay and prove that the necklace isn't worth $2,500, and prove that she shouldn't have been charged with a felony."
Michael added the man has offered to testify on behalf of 24-year-old Lindsay, who is currently on probation stemming from a driving under the influence (DUI) conviction in 2007.
Lindsay's friends have insisted she was allowed to borrow the necklace, but the store later changed their mind after she failed to get them any publicity.
It was previously revealed the 'Machete' actress' assistant claimed she tried to bring it back to the store but did not have time.
According to a police report obtained by gossip website TMZ, Lindsay's assistant said: "Ms. Lohan was in possession of the necklace and wanted to give the necklace back to the store the day after she took it from the store, but she was very busy."
