Katie Otto, a co-producer of
the event, is the leader of Sweet Dreams, a burlesque inspired hip-hop crew to
be featured at the show. She is currently a student at the University of
Georgia. “I have always had a heart for the homeless in Athens and finally figured
out a way I can give back. We are bringing hip-hop to Athens,” says Miss Otto.
The proceeds from the show
will go to the Athens Area Homeless Shelter. Tickets are $5 in advance at the
DanceFx studio, or $7 at the door. Sweet Peppers Deli has joined the cause by
donating gift certificates for door prizes, and DanceFx will also raffle off an
unlimited classes card worth over $100.
Get ready for a sensational
evening of amazing performances by a variety of dance crews: Sweet Dreams,
Modern Pin-Ups, UGA Ballroom Performance Company, D-Coy, and DanceFx Concert
Dance Company. Royal Flush, a hip-hop dance group from MTV’s America’s Best
Dance Crew will be a main feature at the show.
The 40 Watt Club is located
at 285 W. Washington Street in downtown Athens.
