Coronation Street's Jim McDonald is set to buy ex-wife Liz the Rovers Return pub in a bid to win her back.
The former prisoner - played by Charles Lawson - was last seen in Weatherfield in December, but will return to the street when he makes an offer to buy the drinking establishment from the current owners, his hard-up son Steve (Simon Gregson) and daughter-in-law Becky (Katherine Kelly).
Liz (Beverley Callard) has been managing the pub for the couple for some time and Jim sees buying it for her as the ultimate way to win back her affections.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jim is intent on winning Liz back once and for all. He sees the pub as the way to her heart. Liz might be the manager but it is Steve's name above the door. Steve is desperate for cash and might take his dad's money."
Jim came back at the end of last year for Jack Duckworth's (Bill Tarmey) funeral and sent flowers to his former spouse.
However, his romantic intentions were intercepted by her new boyfriend Owen Armstrong (Ian Puleston-Davies), who warned him off.
