'Hollyoaks' Brendan Brady's is to be pushed to the limit when a face from the past arrives in the village.
The Irish bad boy - played by Emmett J. Scanlan - is left stunned when former friend Pete (Peter Mitchell) takes up a post as headteacher of Hollyoaks High, and is terrified his old pal could reveal some secrets from their youth.
Emmett said: "Pete's arrival is the beginning of something that's going to push Brendan to places he hasn't been to before. Pete reminds Brendan of a past that haunted him. It reminds him of a time that was filled with guilt and confusion when they were best friends.
Brendan's worried about everyone finding out. He sees Pete talk to Ste, to Warren, to Rae, to Amy, to all of these people.
"Soon he's going to be up against a wall and he won't be able to fight his way out of it this time."
The actor refused to say if Brendan - who is secretly gay and having an affair with Ste Hay (Kieran Richardson) - is responsible for Pete being in a wheelchair, but promised the storyline will show a different side to his menacing alter ego
He added to Soaplife magazine: "He certainly knows secrets about Brendan. Everything you know about Brendan will pale in comparison.
"This storyline humanises Brendan. You'll see his vulnerable side and understand why he is the way he is."
