Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton will follow in Queen Elizabeth's footsteps by spending Canada Day in Canada.
It was previously revealed the couple - who will marry in Westminster Abbey on April 29 - plan to undertake a trip to the country this summer but a government official has provided more details on their first overseas journey as a married couple.
The unnamed official said William, 28 and 29-year-old Kate will now travel across the country from the end of June to mid-July, taking part in Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa on July 1. Their stay will also include a trip to the Arctic.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper invited the couple to the country after they announced their engagement last year and has revealed plans to issue stamps in their honour.
Queen Elizabeth visited last July and pronounced it "good to be home" as she embarked on her 22nd official visit to the country.
It has previously been revealed William and Kate are planning a budget honeymoon in the Scilly Isles, off the coast of the South West of England.
A palace aide said: "William and Kate are acutely aware that in these difficult times being seen to take a luxury honeymoon would not look good and send out entirely the wrong signal.
"Neither has lavish tastes and a domestic location is ideal to ensure they are secure."
