Arkansas Police Charge Man in Beating Death of Anchorwoman Anne Pressly

Arkansas police have arrested Curtis Lavelle Vance and charged the 28-year-old man with capital murder for the beating death of anchorwoman Anne Pressly.

Police took Vance into custody Wednesday night after receiving tip that he was at a house in Little Rock. Earlier in the evening they had announced Vance was their main suspect in Pressly’s death.

In the early morning hours of October 20 Anne Pressly was found by her mother who had come to her house after she failed to answer her phone calls. When she entered Pressly’s room she found her daughter struggling to breath, suffering from multiple injuries to her head and upper torso from a vicious beating.

Five days after Pressly was hospitalized the popular anchorwoman died from those injuries.

The murder of Pressly, who lived alone in the Pulaski Heights section of Little Rock, stunned the community and left investigators determined to apprehend the suspect. DNA evidence found at the scene allowed investigators to narrow their suspect but police have not said what led them to identify Vance as their target.
