Mumbai Attacks: Report Indicates Five Hostages Killed in Jewish Center Rescue

Reports have indicated that at least five hostages held at a Jewish center in Mumbai have been killed by gunmen as Indian authorities secure the building.

An Israeli rabbi and his wife were among those held inside the Chabad Lubavich Center while their 2-year-old child and a nanny were released yesterday. It is unclear how many people were killed inside the center but reports have placed the number at five. That number could include gunmen.

It is believed that the Chabad Lubavich Center is now secure.

Attacks launched by terrorists on Wednesday targeted a total of ten sites. It is believed authorities are still engaged with at least one terrorist at the Taj Hotel. It is not known if all hostages have been freed from the building. At the Oberoi hotel all hostages are believed to be free.

Numbers on Friday have put the dead at 143 while another 288 have been injured. Police forces have suffered several casualties in the attacks while eight foreigners are said to have died.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has blamed Pakistani militants for the deadly attacks.
