Patrick Cox says designing cakes helps satisfy his need for "immediate gratification".
The famous footwear designer - who stopped creating shoes four years ago - recently launched a cake shop, Cox Cookies & Cake, in London's Soho district with patissier Eric Lanlard and says he is enjoying seeing his ideas come to life so quickly, rather than the lengthier process it took to make shoes.
When asked what he enjoys about his new career, Patrick exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I love the immediacy of it, I can come up with a design for a cake and you can be eating within the hour where as shoes are much lengthier process.
"I was fed-up with the long lead times in the shoe industry. I'm quite an impatient person I need immediate gratification.
"I'd wanted to do a cake shop for 20 years, I even had the name ready, because my mother used to send me cookies from Canada. But I love the creative process of this - I could make anything if I had the right partner."
However, Patrick - who, along with Eric, has created a new cake recipe to accompany the new Kenco instant coffee Kenco Millicano - says he will make shoes again at some point.
Speaking at the launch event of Kenco Millicano at exclusive London restaurant The Folly earlier this week, Patrick added: "At the moment I don't even have a space to work in but I will return to shoes at some point."
