Vampirefreaks.com a Playground for Sexual Predators?

by Daun Lee

The website Vampire freaks.com is under scrutiny today among reports of a sexual predator who found a victim through the site. The 21 year old Georgia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having sex with a 12 year old girl. The two met on the social networking site geared towards vampire lovers spurred on in adolescent girls by the popular Twilight series. They began exchanging emails and instant messages. Antony Paleveda picked up the young girl from her middle school and took her to his house. Once at his home he had sex with her and then took her home.

The silence about sexual assaults and sexual harassment seem to breaking as more stories of these incidents continue to appear in the media. Sexual harassment cases are common in the workplace but sexual harassment lawyers help men and women feel comfortable about reporting these incidents. It begs the question, are the incidents of sexual abuse more common or are more people speaking out about them?

Sexual harassment in the workplace still remains common; between 40 and 70 percent of all women have been victims of harassment .Many men and women fear repercussion on the job if they report sexual harassment. The employ of a sexual harassment attorney can protect an individual’s rights in the workplace. The Equal Opportunity Commission states that approximately 15,000 cases of sexual harassment are filed annually by employees and their sexual harassment lawyers.
