AP Top 25 College Football Scores: #16 Cincinnati Bearcats Earn Big East Title with Victory Over Syracuse Orange

Tony Pike threw for 272 yards and a pair of touchdowns, John Goebel added 78 yards and a TD on the ground and Marshwan Gilyard collected 115 yards receiving on 11 catches as the Cincinnati Bearcats (10-2, 6-1) knocked off the Syracuse Orange (3-9, 1-6) 30-10 to win the Big East title.

Goebel put the Bearcats in front 7-0 in the first quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run and the Cincinnati lead was extended to 10-0 in the second quarter after Jake Rogers booted a 45-yard field goal. Syracuse managed to get on the board with a field goal from Patrick Shadle but Rogers closed the half for the Bearcats with a 38-yard field goal for a 13-3 lead at the half.

Cincinnati took command of the game in the third quarter when Pike found Kazeem Alli on a 7-yard touchdown pass and Rogers added his third field goal of the game in the frame as the Bearcats carried a 23-3 advantage into the final quarter.

Pike put the game to bed early in the fourth when he hit Jacob Ramsey on a 15-yard touchdown pass. Syracuse managed to find the endzone on a Cameron Dantley 6-yard touchdown pass to Dan Sheeran but the game was already decided at that point.
