AP Top 25 College Football Rankings Week 14: Alabama and Florida Hold Top Spots as Texas Leapfrogs Oklahoma
The AP Top 25 college football rankings for Week 14 are out and the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators remain #1 and #2 while the Texas Longhorns jumped past the Oklahoma Sooners to claim the all-important #3 spot.
Both the Crimson Tide and the Gators won in impressive fashion on Saturday, taking care of business and setting up an epic battle for the SEC Championship next week. Alabama blanked in-state rival Auburn while Florida embarrassed their in-state rival Florida State.
The Longhorns jumped to #3 after picking apart the Texas A&M Aggies on Thanksgiving Day and coupled with their win over the Oklahoma Sooners earlier this year they moved up to #3, paving the way for a berth to the Big 12 Championship game against Missouri next week.
Oklahoma did everything they could as they blasted the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday hoping it would be enough to sway voters to push them into the Big 12 championship game. The Sooners had their backs to the wall due to their loss to the Longhorns earlier this year. Oklahoma will have to hope for a higher ranking in the BCS if they are to get the ticket to the Big 12 championship game.
Saturday was a banner day for the #5 USC Trojans who pasted the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and saw Oregon State fall to Oregon and as a result earn a berth to the Rose Bowl where they will face Penn State.
