Mike Skinner's 'greatest work'

Mike Skinner's final album as The Streets is his "greatest work".

The musician is delighted with his fifth record 'Computers and Blues' which was released this month and is convinced he is retiring The Streets on a high.

He said: "What better time is there to bow out than after you've done your greatest work? It's the best Streets album. The new album is my masterpiece.

"The reason I think this album is such a good one is it draws on all the things I've learned on the other albums. But because I knew it was the last one I wasn't trying to kill myself and make something new. I was able to make something good."

The rapper is relieved he can give up performing and cannot wait to start the next phase of his career as a producer.

He explained: "I'm really excited about being a producer now. I'll be working for other people. I am certainly a better producer than I am a performer."

However, despite his delight at quitting performing, Mike revealed he wouldn't change the past decade since the release of his debut album 'Original Pirate Material' for anything.

He said: "I look back on it now and I think I did it in the right way and I was incredibly lucky to be doing the right thing at the right time."
