Famous and Fearless axed

New reality show 'Famous and Fearless' has been axed after just one series.

Channel 4 bosses reportedly made the decision not to commission a second series of the programme - fronted by Chris Evans - because it wasn't "fearless" enough to draw in the huge audiences it had hoped to.

While channel executives had hoped the urban sports and stunt show - which featured the likes of former 'EastEnders' actress Kacey Ainsworth, comedian Rufus Hound and athlete Kelly Holmes - would be a successful replacement for 'Celebrity Big Brother', ratings nosedived after its launch last month.

Although some 2.4 million viewers tuned in to see the first show, the figure had plummeted to just 1.2 million by the end of its week-long live run.

An insider told explained: "It was innovative, but it just didn't work as well as we had hoped. It was a tough act following 'Celebrity Big Brother'."

However, despite 'Famous and Fearless' flopping, host Chris Evans - who made his first Channel 4 appearance in a decade on the show following the axe of 'TFI Friday' in December 2000 - has been branded "a success".

The source added to The Sun newspaper: "They were really happy with having Evans back and want to do more with him in the future. They are looking at new projects with him now."
