New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Play at England’s Wembley Stadium in 2009

The NFL’s venture outside the United States will once again pit a pair of the league’s elite teams in England as the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will square off in Wembley Stadium on October 25, 2009.

Tampa already has ties to England as the team’s owner, Malcolm Glazer, has controlling interest in the popular soccer outfit Manchester United.

Both the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in the middle of a playoff scramble in their respective divisions. While the Bucs currently leads the NFC South the Patriots are in a fight in the AFC East where they trail the New York Jets by a game.

Earlier this year the New Orleans Saints faced the San Diego Chargers in the UK with the Saints earning the win in front of 83,266 fans.
