ESPN USA Today College Basketball Top 25 Rankings Week 3: North Carolina Holds Top Spot, Louisville and Michigan State Tumble
The ESPN USA Today men’s college basketball Top 25 rankings for Week 3 have kept the North Carolina Tar Heels and the Connecticut Huskies at #1 and #2 while Gonzaga has shot up to #5 following impressive wins over Oklahoma State, Maryland and Tennessee.
UNC captured the Maui Invitational after dropping Notre Dame in the finals and followed that up with a blasting of UNC Ashville to complete a 4-0 week while Connecticut remained unbeaten with wins over Bryant University and Wisconsin.
Pittsburgh inched up to #3 after the Louisville Cardinals fell to Western Kentucky. The Panthers beat Washington State and Texas Tech during their 3-0 week. Duke moved up to #4 after an easy win over Duquesne.
The Oklahoma Sooners shot up seven spots to #6 in the ESPN USA Today college basketball rankings for Week 3 after topping UAB and Purdue to improve to 6-0 on the year.
Notre Dame’s loss to the Tar Heels didn’t hurt them and they actually moved up a spot after knocking off Texas to reach the Maui Invitational finals. Texas slipped to #8 following their loss to the Irish.
Xavier jumped six spots this week to #14 while Syracuse jumped into the Top 25 landing at #20 after a strong week.
