Citizens of the Arab nation Libya continue to speak out against the regime of Gadhafi efforts despite to stop the anti-government protests. The dissidents are calling for sweeping reforms. Gadhafi’s son, Saif al-Islam said in a television broadcast that if uprisings continue the country faces civil war. Over 230 people have been killed by the police in the attempt to end the revolts which were spurred on by protest in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and Bahrain.
The dissidents are demanding economic reforms and loosening of the tight restrictions placed upon Libyan citizens. Libya has a very high unemployment rate. For many people who face political upheaval in their native lands they have no other option than to flee. Individuals who fear for their safety and wish to leave their native lands are called refugees. These refugees often fear for their personal safety and desire better economic opportunity not available in their countries of origin. A refugee can seek asylum in another country by hiring an immigration attorney.
Nations across the globe understand the needs of refuges and allow them to immigrate if they and their immigration lawyers can prove they are at risk. Civil wars and natural disasters jeopardize the safety of the citizens who reside there and without aid countless people face death. Escaping oppressive regimes can be the only way to guarantee the well-being of some citizens. Immigration Attorneys can assist refugees with asylum when they are threatened in native lands.
