Suicide Bomber Kills 26 at Afghanistan Government Office

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for Monday’s deadly bombing at a government building in Kunduz province in northern Afghanistan. A suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a district governor’s office in Imam Sahib district.

Officials say at least 26 people were killed and 36 others wounded. At least 3 police officers are among the dead. The death toll is expected to rise.

Emam Sahib Chief Mohammad Ayoub Haqyar said people had gathered at the government office to collect identity cards. A spokesman for the Taliban said the bomber was targeting men signing up to become policemen.
