Kate Middleton's pub landlord receives invite

Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton have invited a pub landlord to their wedding.

John Haley, who runs the Old Boot Inn in Berkshire, where Kate grew up, is the envy of his friends after receiving an invitation from the queen to the royal event at Westminster Abbey on April 29.

He told the Daily Mirror: "Everyone has been joking about it and offering to go in my place but that's one seat I won't be giving up. I'm really excited and I can't wait to watch Kate walk down the aisle with her prince.

On meeting the future king for the first time he said: ''The first time we saw him everyone was slightly nervous but they often come in for a quiet drink, we're used to it now."

He added: "Kate is a wonderful girl and William is very lucky to have her. I'm sure they will be exceptionally happy and I wish them all the best. "

However, John will have to hurry back to his pub on the big day because he will be hosting a celebration for locals in honour of the pair's nuptials.

He said: "It's going to be a busy day for me because I have to rush back here in time for our own celebration later in the evening."
