Nuggets Making Contract Moves

After major trade, Nuggets look to future

Now that the trade drama with Carmelo Anthony is finally over, the Denver Nuggets are going to try and build towards the future. Most immediately this means getting Brazilian big man Nene to sign a contract extension that Anthony wouldn't. If they do not reach an agreement, Nene could opt out of his current contract and be a free agent.

The Nuggets are also likely to make a trade involving Danilo Gallinari before Thursday's trade deadline. There has been interest shown by the New Jersey Nets, who are no doubt hoping to capitalize on Gallinari's popularity in New York, and also the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors.

The Nuggets will not seek to trade newly acquired Raymond Felton or Wilson Chandler. Felton should compete with Ty Lawson for the point guard spot, an interesting battle between two former UNC stars.
