Tinie Tempah is releasing his own fashion line.
The 22-year-old rapper is creating his own range of clothes but wants to avoid a "hip hop cliche" and hopes shoppers will focus on the quality of the designs instead of who made them.
Speaking on the Kiss Breakfast Show, where he gave his advice to The Kiss Chosen One, Tinie explained: "We're working on our own brand but I really want to stay away from that whole hip hop cliche - 'he's a rapper turned fashion designer, turned actor turned property developer.' "
"I want people to walk into a shop and not immediately think 'Tinie Tempah', but think 'that's a nice shirt' or 'that's a nice tee.' "
The 'Pass Out' hitmaker says he is inspired by brands in his native UK and would like to stand alongside them with his own collection.
He said: "Basically I've tried to make it into a stand alone brand, like Folk, Casely Hayford or House of Billiam.
"There's a lot of creative designers in the UK, we should support more Tinie also opened up about his personal style preferences, saying he would rather wear what he feels comfortable in than follow all the latest fashions.
He said: "I'm not really a trend guy, I just wear what I feel like. I've got tonnes of denim and a big blazer collection. I have a bit of an obsession with trainers, and, of course, I love bow-ties."
