Comic Relief stars feeling the heat of the desert

Olly Murs is finding the Comic Relief desert trek "harder every day".

The 'Thinking Of Me' hitmaker - who is joined in Kenya's scorching Kaisut Desert by a whole host of stars, including Dermot O'Leary, Lorraine Kelly and Kara Tointon - admits the soaring temperatures of 102 degrees Fahrenheit are making the BT Red Nose Desert Trek particularly gruelling.

He explained: "Yesterday was tough but it is harder than ever today and I've got the feeling that's the way this is going to go. Each day is getting harder than the last as we get further and further into the desert."

Olly wasn't the only celebrity to suffer at the hands of the intense heat yesterday (21.02.11), as 'Dancing On Ice' star Nadia Sawalha experienced a particularly disastrous night after she almost fell down the camp's long drop when the toilet seat broke.

Meanwhile, former 'EastEnders' actress Kara Tointon broke down in tears after becoming exhausted by the second day of the charity event.

However, signer Craig David acknowledged while the Comic Relief challenge is "beyond anything" he could have imagined, knowing the team are raising thousands of pounds for disadvantaged people in Africa and the UK has kept them going.

Craig said: "This is so much harder than I ever thought and the heat is beyond anything I could have imagined.

"Walking in the midday heat is so intense but knowing that we are raising money with each step is keeping me going."

All the ups and downs of the team's journey will be captured for a documentary which will be broadcast in the run up to Red Nose Day on March 18.
