Naked sledging

Competitors have been baring all in Germany during the naked sledging world championships.

Topless racers went down a 90-metre-long snowy piste in Braunlage to try and win the prize of £1,000, as well as the title of Naked Sledging World Champion.

They wore only crash helmets and briefs to protect their modesty as they competed in front of a record crowd exceeding 17,000 spectators.

Race organiser Tobias Wannemaker said: "This year attracted more people than ever. The naked sledgers definitely got things hotting up, even in such cold conditions.

"Over 400 people applied for a place in the third annual race but we could only select 30.

"We had people of all ages, shapes and sizes. It made for an interesting selection. Next year we hope we can select more people."
