For those planning on attending the historic presidential inauguration on Jan. 20 where Barack Obama takes the oath of office to become the country’s 44th president don’t be surprised if you come away cold and wet because thermoses and umbrellas are among the listed items that will not be allowed.
Along with thermoses and umbrellas several other items have been included on the banned list for the 2008 presidential inauguration. Don’t plan on carrying a backpack or a cooler to the ceremony, both are banned, but do plan on carrying your child because strollers don’t make the list of acceptable items.
For those wanting to catch the historic moment on film you can breathe easy as cameras will be allowed and for those wanting to give a play-by-play call of the action you will be allowed to carry in your cell phone.
The Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies has produced the list of banned items and has warned those planning on attending to prepare for a long day. Washington is particularly cold in late January and overcast skies could produce rain.
