Prince William and Kate Middleton's official Wales visit

Britain's Prince William and fiancee Kate Middleton will carry out their first official engagement in Wales today (24.02.11).

The royal couple - who are set to marry on April 29 - will name a charity lifeboat at Trearddur Bay in Anglesey, in what will be only their second official outing as a couple since announcing their engagement in November.

Chief executive of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute Paul Boissier said he was "honoured" the pair would be coming down.

He said: "We have a proud history of royal patronage and are honoured that Prince William and Miss Middleton will be continuing that tradition."

"Naming a new lifeboat is always a special occasion for the charity where we can thank our supporters and fundraisers. Having the royal couple there will make the day even more memorable for the whole community."

The boat will be named Hereford Endeavour, and the pair will meet members of the crew and volunteers at the Welsh base after the ceremony.

Prince William, 28, is based at nearby airbase RAF Valley in Anglesey, and many locals are expected to visit the base to see the couple.

Shop worker Karen Knight said: "We're all looking forward to it. I'll be going, of course.

"I've had a lot of phone calls off people from all over the island asking what time we can expect to see them. I'm hoping it will be nice and busy for them."
