Britain's Prince William has been named as the country's top charity ambassador.
The 28-year-old royal - who has worked alongside a number of charitable organisations including his father's Prince's Trust foundation, as well as his brother Prince Harry's charity Sentable - has been voted as the public figure most likely to encourage British people to donate to worthwhile causes.
Undertaken by Oxfam, the poll proved that people look to the prince when deciding which charity to give to, suggesting he is following in the footsteps of his late mother Princess Diana, who was a staunch supporter of charitable causes.
Prince William - who was voted by 27 per cent of the 1,030 members of the British public questioned in the survey as the country's top charity ambassador - beat the likes of multi-millionaire business tycoon Sir Alan Sugar, who was awarded the second place spot.
Meanwhile, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, England soccer star David Beckham and comedian James Corden rounded up the top five, with Cheryl Cole being named as the female star most likely to encourage people to give.
Dr. Tom Farsides, a leading authority on why people give to charity, explained: "At a time when life is financially harder for most people we look to role models to lead by example, but we're also far more likely to be annoyed or put off by anything we don't think is genuine."
