Week 14 NFL Power Rankings ESPN: New York Giants Remain Atop List Tennessee Titans Hold #2 Spot
The Week 14 NFL Power Rankings from ESPN are out and while the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans each held their spot atop the list the rest of the rankings took a shuffle as several teams fell in Week 13 action.
New York earned an impressive win on the road over the Washington Redskins while the Titans easily disposed of the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. While the Giants are still considered a near lock to come out of the NFC the Titans still have plenty of critics in the AFC.
Picking up a road win over the New England Patriots pushed the Pittsburgh Steelers up one spot to #3 this week and many believe they are the team that will come unseat Tennessee.
While nearly everybody proclaimed the NFC East the best division in the NFL it’s the NFC South that’s piling up the wins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers are sitting at #4 and #5 respectively this week. Both used huge come-from-behind victories on Sunday and they will meet on Monday Night Football for the inside track to the playoffs.
The Indianapolis Colts are the only team in the top 19 to hold their spot from a week ago as they remain #6 this week after edging the Cleveland Browns in a defensive battle. They’re battling for a playoff spot in the AFC and should take another step towards earning their ticket as they face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
An ugly loss to the Denver Broncos dropped the New York Jets four spots to #7 this week. Brett Favre had everybody believing the Jets could be the team in the AFC but their loss opened the door for the critics.
The Dallas Cowboys moved up one spot to #8 this week after taking apart the Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving. With Tony Romo back and Terrell Owens happy there are plenty of people eying the Cowboys as a playoff team but their next four games are against teams fighting for playoff positions.
Landing at #9 in the Week 14 NFL Power Rankings are the surprising Atlanta Falcons who picked up a big road win over the San Diego Chargers on Sunday and remain in the thick of the NFC playoff hunt and still have a shot at the NFC South title.
The Baltimore Ravens blasted the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday and moved up three spots to #10 this week.
