February 27, 2011 marks the 13th anniversary of outstanding service to thousands of individuals in the nation and the world.
Over a decade ago, driven by a passion for helping individuals live and maintain a life of sobriety, the founders of Mountainside forged a new path in drug and alcoholism treatment and, while doing so, set a new standard of care that caused the entire treatment field to take notice.
Not content with the rates of success for individuals remaining clean and sober, the founders of Mountainside looked for innovative and new treatment modalities that could better the rates of success for individuals remaining clean and sober. Focusing on the key principles of drug rehab, the evidence based treatment modalities that had been proven effective throughout the years, they further augmented their program with innovative and new treatment modalities that were incorporated into their treatment program - a more holistic approach to treatment.
“We really weren’t looking to become innovators, first and foremost,” begins Terence R. Dougherty, Chief Executive Officer of Mountainside
Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “Our desire was to simply build an excellent and effective program that focused on the needs of the individual as opposed to one treatment modality that everyone received, regardless of their need. We combined what was proven within the addiction treatment field with what was proven in other treatment fields, drawing many of our modalities from Eastern thought and practice. Meditation, Tai Chi, Yoga and acupuncture are just a few of the program offerings Mountainside utilizes along with its core evidence based program. After a thorough assessment of an individual by our team of licensed professionals, we tailor a program that will help an individual achieve the most optimal results for him or her. We feel that our program is second-to-none, and it wins widespread acclaim from government and regulatory officials and professionals within the treatment field.”
In addition to its innovative treatment programs, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center’s picturesque locale is also paramount to the success of its program. Located in the foothills of the Berkshires in Canaan, Connecticut, the peaceful, serene environment lends itself to relaxation and stress reduction, two key elements of successful substance abuse recovery.

Waters, for an in-depth meeting on what makes its program so successful.
