Mark Ronson writes first film score

Mark Ronson is scoring the film 'Arthur'.

The 35-year-old producer was hired by the Hollywood remake's producers to helm the soundtrack after being recommended by leading man Russell Brand.

Mark - who has produced tracks for Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams and Christina Aguilera, as well as releasing his own records - said he has fulfilled a long term ambition by working on the soundtrack.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I'm doing the music for 'Arthur'. I'm just finishing it. It's my first time doing a film score and it's something I've wanted to do for a really long time."

'Arthur' tells the story of a single man trying to find meaning in his life, with Russell taking the part originally made famous by Dudley Moore.

Mark has recently also recently produced albums by US band Black Lips and Duran Duran, and pop star Boy George has revealed plans to write tracks for his reformation with group Culture Club with the producer after they collaborated on his track 'Somebody to Love Me'.

He said: "We've talked about Mark maybe writing with Culture Club. I'm not sure whether it will be production as well, but certainly I'd like to do more stuff with Mark."

'Arthur' is set for release on April 22 in the UK.
