Channel 4 to launch dwarf reality series

Channel 4 is to document the lives of seven dwarf actors in a brand new reality series.

Following the success of 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings', the broadcaster has decided to launch an even more outrageous documentary which will feature the "tears, tantrums and breakdowns" involved among a group of actors appearing in a 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' pantomime while living together.

An insider explained: "They were a great bunch of people, with a real sense of fun - but there are lots of tears, tantrums and breakdowns."

The series - which was filmed last Christmas and will go on air this coming autumn - will also document some of the problems the group face while going about their daily lives.

Dwarf actress Laura explained: "I want people to enjoy us working hard and having fun - but also to understand some of the problems we face."

Housemate Karen added to The Sun newspaper: "We're little but we're normal. That's what I want people to see."

Meanwhile, it is hoped the new show will also help to "break through panto stereotypes" by showing the miniature cast tackling various issues.

Nick Curwin, executive producer of the yet-to-be named show, said: "The series will break through panto stereotypes to show dwarf actors facing the challenges of ordinary life head-on."

Channel 4 bosses recently admitted the success of the 'Big Fat Gypsy Weddings' series - which drew in 8 million viewers - had made broadcasters keen to devise more hit documentaries.

A factual programming executive explained: "It hasn't just been a success, it's been an astonishing success. No documentaries, not even ones on BBC One or ITV1, get more than 8 million these days."
