John Galliano was arrested yesterday (24.02.11) for alleged verbal assault and making anti-Semitic remarks.
The fashion designer - who has reportedly been chosen to create Kate Moss' wedding dress - was questioned by police in Paris after he allegedly accosted a couple who were seated on a cafe terrace in the French city's fashionable Marais district.
A source said: "For the moment we don't know what led him to address the couple."
Galliano - who was found to have been drinking alcohol at the time of the reported incident - was detained by police and then released pending charges being filed.
The 50-year-old sartorialist - who took over the creative helm at Christian Dior in 1996 - is currently putting the final touches to his autumn-winter collections for Christian Dior and his own label for Paris Fashion Week next week.
It was recently revealed Galliano has landed the coveted job of creating supermodel Kate's wedding dress for when she ties the knot with rocker Jamie Hince later this year.
The 37-year-old catwalk queen announced her choice of designer at a Topshop dinner during London Fashion Week.
