At least 11 NATO oil tankers were blown up by militants in Pakistan early Friday morning. Police say 18 trucks loaded with fuel for NATO troops in Afghanistan were parked at a terminal near Peshawar city when a group of gunmen planted explosive devices under 12 of the vehicles. Only 11 of the devices exploded and those tankers were completely destroyed. At least 4 other tankers were damaged.
"More than two dozen militants entered the terminal and planted timed devices on 12 out of a total 18 fuel tankers parked at the terminal," senior police official Imtiaz Shah told AFP.
Shah said two guard terminal guards and two truck drivers were killed in the attack. Six others were injured.
Militants frequently target trucks carrying supplies for NATO troops. No one has claimed responsibility for Friday’s attack. The Taliban is often responsible for such attacks.
