Police at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Airport Deny Claims of Gunmen Killed

Reports from officials at India’s Indira Gandhi airport in Delhi claimed that six gunmen had been killed by security forces but those claims are now being disputed by the police force in charge of security at the city’s main airport.

Police have said they were investigating “sharp sounds” that were heard in the airport but have denied any gunmen killed.

Airports in India have been under increased security following a warning that they could be susceptible to terrorist attacks.

Last week nearly 200 people were killed when terrorists entered Mumbai by sea and targeted ten sites inside the city. Indian citizens expressed outrage over the government reaction to the chaos that ensued and the security forces have been under pressure to step up their efforts against further attacks.
