Rodney Rogers, Former NBA Player, Paralyzed After ATV Accident

Rodney Rogers, the former Wake Forest star and NBA veteran, was left paralyzed after an accident in an all-terrain vehicle over Thanksgiving weekend.

On Friday, Rogers suffered a spinal cord injury due to the ATV accident, leaving him paralyzed from the shoulders down.

Rogers was four-wheeling in the woods in rural Vance County north of Raleigh, NC when he fell off the vehicle, according to state highway patrol. He was then airlifted to Duke University Hospital after the accident and then airlifted again to an Atlanta rehabilitation facility on Wednesday.

Rogers left Wake Forest after the 1992-93 season and was selected ninth in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets.  He retired after 12 years in the league in 2005.  In 2000, Rogers won the NBA's Sixth Man Award while playing for the Phoenix Suns.

He averaged 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds over his 12-year career, in which he played for the Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Suns, Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, New Orleans Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers.
