Middle Eastern princess wins right to withhold identity

A Middle Eastern princess has won the right to have her identity hidden in a sexual harassment court case.

The unknown royal is accused by a British bodyguard of drinking, drug taking and sexually promiscuous behaviour, but lawyers have persuaded a Central London Employment Tribunal to stop the publication of her name in the press.

Akhlaq Choudhury, representing the royal, said she was "fearful" of the consequence revealing her name could have, especially considering she is accused of breaking Muslim taboos, which carry physical punishments in some Arab states.

He claimed: "There is risk that the respondent might be affected in giving her evidence and may not attend - that is how fearful she is - and if she does not attend she would not get a fair trial and that is not in the interest of justice."

The princess' 40-year-old minder, who has also not been named, has accused her of kicking him in the groin after she knew he had an operation in that area.

He further claims she made him look at gay porn websites which she had claimed her husband, a successful businessman, had been viewing.

The minder was employed in 2003 but left his job in July last year because he felt "threatened by the risk of sexual harassment".
