Jessie J blasts The X Factor

Jessie J has slammed 'The X Factor' for being "a pantomime".

The 'Price Tag' hitmaker explained she would never have entered the ITV1 show in a bid to become famous, as it has become a "soap opera with music" in recent years.

When asked whether she would have ever taken part in the talent search series, she explained: "No, not because I don't like it, I think sometimes it does become more of a pantomime than a talent competition.

"I remember recently I spoke to Simon Cowell about it, and I said I totally respect the show, I just think it's lost its credibility a bit. It's almost a bit like a soap opera with music."

The singer - real name Jessica Cornish - thinks 'The X Factor' has given a skewed impression of the music industry to youngsters, because it makes it look easy to become a star.

Jessie added to MSN Music: "It frustrates me because it damages the understanding that young people have of how hard it is to make it in the music industry, especially with original songs and not covers.

"People, even now, they think I've just had loads of money pumped into me and that I've been around for five minutes. That's not the case at all."
