Official website for British royal wedding launched

An official website for the wedding of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton has been created.

The site has been launched this morning (02.03.11) by the UK's Clarence House - the official residence and offices of William's father, The Prince of Wales - and promises to bring news, pictures and video on the wedding, which will take place on April 29.

A statement from the royal press office said of the site: "As well as regular updates on the wedding details ahead of the event, on the day itself the site will be the first place to view information such as the details of Miss Middleton's wedding dress."

The website has four separate sections detailing the event, headed 'The Service', 'The Procession', 'The Reception' and 'Background'.

The sections collect together previously released information on the wedding, including how the service will take place at London's Westminster Abbey and the reception will be held at Buckingham Palace, chaired by Queen Elizabeth.

The site also features links to other sites relevant to the wedding including to London's Royal Parks - where the wedding procession will walk - and to a virtual tour of Buckingham Palace. Clarence House also has an official twitter feed which is linked to the site.

Over 500 people 'Liked' the site via website Facebook during its first morning.

The website can be viewed at www.officialroyalwedding2011.org.
