Moammar Gadhafi Bombs Eastern Libya, Warns US Not To Intervene

As violence escalated in Libya and military planes bombed eastern cities controlled by the opposition, embattled leader Moammar Gadhafi warned the United States and NATO not to intervene. In a 3 hour speech in Tripoli Wednesday morning, Gadhafi vowed U.S. and NATO forces “will set foot in hell” if they enter the country to support the rebels.

"We will enter a bloody war and thousands and thousands of Libyans will die if the United States or NATO enters," he said.

A United States warships moved toward Libya, Defense Secretary Robert Gates insisted no decision has been made about entering the country. "We're obviously looking at a lot of options and contingencies. No decisions have been made on any other actions,” he said.

Meanwhile, CNN reports warplanes dropped at least one bomb on the town of al Brega. Bombs were also reportedly being dropped in the town of Ajdabiyah, which is located about 50 miles from brega.
