AP Top 25 College Football Schedule: #18 Boston College Eagles Take on Virginia Tech Hokies in ACC Championship Game

#18 Boston College Eagles will face Virginia Tech Hokies in the 2008 ACC Championship Game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL on Saturday. The game will take place at 1pm EST on ABC.

This is the second straight year that BC (9-3, 5-3 ACC) and V-Tech (8-4, 5-3 ACC) will face each other in the ACC championship game. Last year, quarterback Matt Ryan led Boston College to 11 wins, tying the 1940 school record, and a No. 10 ranking in the final AP poll, the school's highest ranking to end a season since it finished No. 4 in 1984.

Ryan helped BC defeat the Hokies in the regular season, but Virginia Tech beat the Eagles 30-16 in the ACC championship game, their second straight ACC title.

Coming into the season, both teams were depleted. BC lost Ryan, who became the No. 3 pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, while Virginia Tech lost lost seven defensive starters, its top four wide receivers and a former All-ACC tailback.

Both teams are currently ranked at the bottom of the ACC in total offense and passing offense, but their defenses are amongst the nation's best as Virginia Tech is ranked sixth in total defense and BC ranked eighth. Their defenses are key to why both teams are ranked in the top 25 in the BCS: BC (18th) and Virginia Tech (25th).
