Biffy Clyro have 16 songs written for their new album.
The 'Mountains' band are presently touring North America, but looking forward to getting home to Scotland to start recording their sixth album.
Frontman Simon Neil said: "I love writing songs at home, so we've got about 15 or 16 songs that we did over new year, as soon as we get off the road we'll get the album done."
He added fans can expect another commercial but heavy rock record in the vein of their last effort, 'Only Revolutions' - which saw them break into the mainstream - as the final installment in their second "trilogy".
Simon added to radio station BBC 6Music: "We did our first three records on an indie label, and they were all really complex, then we did two on a major label.
"I'd like to complete the trilogy of big rock records for them and then we'll move onto something else."
"The sound's all over the place, really. We're always going to be a rock band, it's always going to be heavy, but hopefully just bring different elements, it's going to sound like Biffy, it's not going to be a reggae record, put it that way."
