'Holby City' actress Jaye Jacobs "cried solidly for two weeks" when she left the BBC One series.
The 28-year-old star - who recently filmed her final scenes after playing the part of mouthy nurse Donna Jackson for the past seven years - admitted she found it "terribly scary" when her time came to leave the hospital-based drama.
She explained: "I cried solidly for two weeks before I left. I tried to hide it but there were a few times when I had to leave the set and nip off to the loo because I couldn't stop sobbing. I felt ridiculous!
"It was terribly scary! It hit me about a month before I finished filming when I realised all the people who had supported me just weren't going to be there any more."
Jaye revealed while the thinks her decision to leave the show came at the right time, she will miss the close-knit community of her fellow 'Holby City' actors.
She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was a child when I started on 'Holby City' and feel like I grew up on that show. I was very much the baby of the team and the cast and crew and production staff have seen me through some huge things in my life.
"They saw me through driving tests, boyfriends, new relationships, ends of relationships, buying my first flat."
Jaye's final scenes on the BBC One series will air next month.
