New York Knicks Roll Past New Orleans Hornets
Billups sits with injury during win
The New York Knicks were without starting point guard Chauncey Billups last night as they took on the New Orleans Hornets. His absence gave another Knick a chance to shine with the newly revitalized team, Toney Douglas.
Douglas drew the task of defending Hornets' All Star Chris Paul, and held him to only four points while scoring 24 of his own. Amare Stoudemire scored 24 and Carmelo Anthony helped with 22, though Anthony sat on the bench during the fourth quarter because the game was already firmly in New York's grasp.
The Hornets got good performances from Jarrett Jack, 21 points, and David West, 16 points, but it wasn't good enough to keep pace. The Hornets are mired in a slump having lost 12 of their last 16 games and three in a row.
Jared Jeffries, who signed with the Knicks on Tuesday, got six rebounds in his first game back since leaving the Rockets.
