Archeologists in Jordan have discovered that the fox may been domesticated before the dog.
In a 16,500 year-old graveyard a team of English and American diggers found evidence that the bushy-tailed beast was actually man's first best friend.
At the burial site were the remains of a red fox alongside those of 11 humans.
Lisa Maher, who is a researcher from Britain's University of Cambridge said: "It probably was a more emotional relationship of one particular fox to one particular person."
