Spectacles equal innocence

A study in the US has shown that juries are less likely to convict defendants wearing glasses.

Criminal lawyers are even going as far as encouraging their clients to wear spectacles when going on trial because they believe it could make the difference between 'guilty' and 'not guilty',

In an experiment students were asked to act as the jury in a fictitious court case and those wearing glasses were more likely to be acquitted.

The trial also found that African Americans who wore glasses were more likely to be thought innocent than white spectacle-wearers.
