De La Hoya does not answer the bell in the 9th. Pacquiao wins the fight. Throughout the 8 rounds the fight was never close with PacMan ahead on the scorecard.
Dan Rafael’s unofficial scorecard according to ESPN had Paquiao beating De La Hoya in each of the 8 rounds.
Oscar tried to get his jab off to start the fight toweing in front of Manny Pacquiao. De La Hoya with a 4 inch height advantage and a reach of 72 inches to PacMan's 67 inches were the only advantages on paper. Although PacMan looked quite small in front of the older De La Hoya as the rounds continued the the younger man prevailed and was too much for the elder De La Hoya.
The speed of Pacquiao’s punches proved to be too much for De La Hoya who had no legs to run and when combined with his lack of punches De La Hoya was eventually mocked by PacMan.
De La Hoya had no legs nor punching power to come close to hurting PacMan let alone even warrant the possibility of a mild threat against Pacquiao.
With De La Hoya not answering the bell the question now is the 35 year old fighter finished?
Time will tell if we will see De La Hoya fight again. On the other hand the 29 year old Pacquiao (PacMan) looks as though we will be seeing more of him in the future as he contiues to leaves every fight fan asking themselves is PacMan the greatest pound for pound fighter?
The tale of the Tape.
