A German official has confirmed the suspect in Wednesday’s fatal shooting at Frankfurt Airport is a 21-year-old Kosovo national named Arid Uka. Uka was arrested immediately after the shooting, which left two United States servicemen dead and two wounded. He told authorities he acted alone, but his claims have not been confirmed. The FBI is investigating.
Hesse state interior minister Boris Rhein said Uka, a longtime resident of Germany, is a recently radicalized Muslim who visited radical Islamist websites.
Uka opened fire on a bus carrying 13 to 14 members of a Security Forces team from Lakenheath base in the U.K. They were en route to a deployment in Afghanistan. The bus driver and 1 member of the Security Forces team were killed, and two members of the team were wounded before Uka’s gun jammed and he was tackled.
U.S. officials have not released the names of the dead and wounded.
