The 32 year old major league baseball player was arrested early Wednesday morning on suspicion of drunk driving. He was pulled over by the police in Scottsdale Arizona after he failed to stay in one lane of traffic. He was pulled over in his Rolls Royce which makes one wonder why he didn’t have a designated driver. The baseball player used twitter to apologize to family and fans for his indiscretion. In the past month two other baseball players have been charged with DUI, Michael Cabrera and Austin Kearns and join the ranks of other celebrities who don’t think they will get caught.
Drunk driving is a serious problem on our streets and highways. Traffic fatalities are caused by drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol over 30 percent of the time. When inebriated most people do not realize how impaired they really are and decide to drive and will need a great DUI lawyer. The effects of alcohol include slowed reactions and poor judgment.
The seriousness and rampant numbers of people who drive while intoxicated has compelled the courts to hand down strict penalties to those who get DUIs. The ramifications of a drunken or drugged driving can leave lasting marks on your life. A person could face incarceration and the loss of the driver’s license along with high fines. When a person employs a DUI attorney it may be possible to minimize the penalties of a DUI charge.
